Pattiwacks January 08

JANUARY 2008

I am happy to present to you the first crafter in our Crafter Spotlight.

I ran into Patti in the forums at Etsy, and, after checking out her blogspot, asked her if she would consent to being a featured crafter on kimbuktu.net.

Graciously, Patti agreed.  Then ensued a flurry of back and forth emails and photo imaging issues (mostly because of my inexperience with uploading pictures to the website).  So finally, without further ado, I would like to introduce you to Patti from Pattiwacks.etsy.com.

I really like Patti's puzzle piece jewelry, and her fresh encouraging cards, but what drew me most to her as an artist was her deep faith, and bold proclamation of her belief.  (You can read more of that in the following excerpts from her blog).

Patti kindly sent some pictures of herself and her studio to include with this article.  I think it is so much fun to see the person behind the craft, as well as their craft space.

Pattiwacks in her Home Studio

The following is taken from Patti's personal profile on Etsy, and from her blogsite at pattiwacks.blogspot.com:

Patti describes herself as: a technically challenged, but learning, person who would like to share with you - first my love for Christ, my love for my family, and then my love for creating.

First and foremost I must say that I am blessed abundantly. I am a wife, mother, and grandmother - all of whom support me wholeheartedly. Then added to this I have been given this passion to create. For as long as I can remember I have enjoyed making things with my hands. I am awed by the beauty the Creator has placed me in the midst of, and I have to honor Him by portraying it in my art, my jewelry, and note cards.

I know we can't control everything and sometimes it may seem that we can control very little. But I am a planner. I like to have an idea of where I'm going and what I'm going to do when I get there. That is one area where hubby and I differ. He likes to travel by the seat of his pants. Let's see what's there when we get there. Well I've seen some of those places and I don't really want to go there....again. So I plan ahead.

My New Year Resolutions are: 1)Focuse more on Christ - improve my time with Him in prayer and seeking Him in His Word and in His creation. 2)To be more loving with my family. Do you ever feel like you give so much out in the world that there is nothing left when you get home? I don't believe we should shortchange those we love. They are worth more than that, and deserve better than that.) Then I'm going to really focus on Pattiwacks. More products and definitely more marketing. I am determined to really learn the ins and outs of etsy, blogging, and reaching more people in other areas. But along the way I don't want to forget the people I come across as I learn, or as they teach me. While I have the destination goal I don't want to overlook the journey.

The Workspace
This little guy looks ready to eat, the way he’s eyeing those raspberries. Who can blame him – they look yummy!
Rather than seeing the entire flower in a glimpse, you have to look into the picture – taking your time to see the rose.
Wishing Peace to all, this beautiful dove is flying your way. The findings are sterling silver and the swarovski crystal is a 4mm crystal faceted tapered bead. On the back are the inspirational words “God holds all the pieces…Truth”.
