October's artisan, Judy Nolan, is a many talented lady who writes, sews, stitches, crochets, crafts and participates in creative problem-solving through Iowa's Destination ImagiNation program. In her spare time, she teaches German and National History Day classes and is a member of the Iowa Poetry Association.
I met Judy on the bbest team on etsy.com. I have long admired felted items, and have even dabbled a bit in the medium myself. Judy's workmanship is wonderful. I can personally attest to the quality of her crocheted felt, having purchased one of her beautiful needlebooks.

| Judy began crocheting, sewing and embroidering as a form of relaxation after she graduated from college many years ago. After earning various awards in the Fabric and Threads Department at the Iowa State Fair, her husband encouraged her to begin selling the items she had been producing and gifting to family and friends.

Judy is a late-blooming poet. She published her first poem at the age of 45. Following is one of her published poems.
Story
In the beginning, ideas battle like storm-belted waves, like earth winds crossing swords with Poseidon. The storyteller, challenged, hoists pen to the skies.
Seaweed crochets his fisherman's net, tendrils snagging the unwary stray while characters intersect, separate, surprise.
A midnight cavern gives way, inch by inch, to his diver's lantern scissoring its depths, revealing theme, plot and scene at dawn's early rise.
Finally, an oyster's pearl emerges smooth, luminescent, maws releasing a shape-shifted pebble-- the story parades full-grown before the reader's eyes.
