How to....
ALTER A TIN CONTAINER INTO A CUTE COIN PURSE
You will need:
A clean, empty altoid (or similar) tin Paint Stamps Buttons Paper Modge Podge (or other decoupage glue) Glitter Sponge Cropodile Eyelets Twill tape
You could also do a fabric covered tin if you prefer

Okay, lets begin.
Open the tin with the front and back sides up. Use the sponge to dab paint on both sides of the tin. I used a mix of 3 coordinating colors of quick drying acrylic paint. You can leave the middle of the tin unpainted if you like, as I did. If you decide to leave the middle unpainted, keep it clear of paint during this first process. I keep a box of wet wipes handy to clean up any mispaints.

If you are a messy painter (as I am) you may find it easier to paint one side at a time, let dry, and then do the other side.
I use a foam brush to paint the small areas of the lid.

| After the paint has dried, apply a coat of modgepodge to the front and back of the tin. Sprinkle glittler lightly over both sides.

When the decoupage medium has dried, decorate the front of the tin with paper flowers, and buttons. Stamp leaf pattern as desired on the front of the tin.
I've used a really big tack pin to poke holes through the tin in this picture and then added flowers and brads.

Here's where the cropodile comes in. Close the lid to see where it meets the bottom tin. Punch through the tin twice, above each little closure nob on the bottom tin portion.
Fold your twill tape ends over to form a thickish luggage strap on both ends. Punch through these folded ends with the cropodile. Line up the twill ends with the punched holes on the tin and insert eyelets to join the twill to the tin. It will look rather like a small suitcase handle when finished.

| All done!
I like these coin purses because they look like mini luggage and close securely. Also because they are fun to make.
Send me pictures of your finished purses and I will feature some on kimbuktu.
