What a Month This Has Been
|
The last month has been very exciting, following are some of the things that happened:
Our Quiltsy Team is having another block swap. This time it is a strippy block like the ones pictured at right. Besides looking great, this is a good stash busting project. You take strips of leftover fabric and do a flip and sew method to attach them to a foundation block. It is fun to throw fabrics together with no regard for how they coordinate, and the end result is fabulous.

Another challenging project I tackled this month was making Valentine Quilts for my three youngest granddaughters. I started with two large jelly rolls of valentine flannel and designed the pattern as I went along. This pattern is fun and easy to make. I intend to offer it for sale later this spring. For the two older girls (9 years, and 6 years) I embroidered their names, and scriptures on "love" in the blank squares. I also added dimensional hearts which are free motion quilted and attached in a raggy applique style. For my youngest granddaughter (1 1/2) I will be printing pictures of her family members on fabric and putting them in each square block.

I entered a contest on Tiffany Teske's blog and WON!!!
Tiffany sent me all the wonderful things pictured. She is a great photographer and all the prizes were photographs she had taken. Some were made into magnets, some postcards, and one was a beautiful print of tulips.

| My Secret Valentine |
|
| Our EveryDayCreate Group had a Secret Valentine Challenge. It was a lot of fun designing a string wrapped magnet for my secret valentine. In return, I received the wonderful package pictured left from my secret valentine Stacy from Stacysdesigns88. I am amazed at the innovative and beautiful way Stacy presented her sweet items. I especially love the lavender sachets she included. Lavender is my signature flower, and every year I add more plants to my garden.

I was asked to be featured on the Bbest Blog recently by Janine from AltheaP. Here's the link to the article. I am rather uncomfortable with this type of interview format and went blank on some of the questions, so I am afraid it may be a bit boring. But I am honored just the same.

| Etsy Artists Exposed Treasury |
|
| Finally, Kim from KimsCraftyApple organized an Etsy Expose of the Quiltsy Team by . Each of us took a picture of ourselves with one of the items from our shops. Mine was a set of placemats. Then Vicki from VickiDianeDesigns made a treasury of the pictures. It was fun to see the faces of the quilters I have come to know in the forums. The treasury did very well, reaching #2 in the list.

I am very thankful for these things which have brightened a dull and cold winter month.

P. S. - Another cool thing happened today, and this can benefit one of you!
ZudaGay, a fabulous polymer clay artist, is doing a giveaway on her blog. You could win one of Zuda's beautiful brooches just for checking out the listed shops (of which mine is one), and leaving a comment.
