This Little Heart Quilt Gets Me Hearts!
March 5, 2008

This little heart quilt is a "related item" to a storque article about new hires on the Etsy staff.  It was featured in an Etsy Success email awhile back, and today was attached to the storque article.  I wondered why I suddenly got a bunch of hearts on my shop and shop inventory!  I just happened upon it, wandering around the community page.  It is on the front page for the rest of today (which ends in 37 minutes!  Not a big deal outside of Etsy, but edifying just the same.

YoYo Tool

March 9     The Versatile Yo-Yo

I discovered a new tool this weekend wandering around the AC Moore store looking for crafts for a children's fellowship.  The yoyo maker.  It has been around for a few years, but this was my first exposure it it.  I really like it!  It comes in different sizes and shapes, I got two sizes of circles, but it comes in heart shapes and flower shapes as well.  The right tool for the job makes a huge difference.  I used to kid my husband about his obsession with tools, but no more...I am a fan of a growing collection of my crafting tools!

It's Tax Time

Taxes.....aaargh!   I have prepared taxes for years, even worked for one of those well known tax prep companies for ten years, and yet I dread doing our taxes this year.  My husband and I sold a property we owned, a two family house that we partly rented for part of the time we owned it, depreciation, etc.  The bottom line is I am thinking we might OWE this year!  Usually I plan it carefully so that we pretty much come out even.  My husband would prefer we get a big refund, but I don't see a reason to loan our money interest free for a year, anyway, for all of you in the same tax time blah boat...I share your pain!

MOMENTUM AND FOCUS

Spring is soon upon us here in the Northeast.  Dreams of gardening and swimming  and lots of projects around the home float in and out of my head.  I have listed a few of my items on a new site just to try and keep the momentum going with my business.  Consequently, I now have two shops to fill with inventory and may have lost my focus and become too scattered to be effective.

I think a little spring cleaning is in order to get back on track.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE

This is the day we celebrate Christ's resurrection.  I awoke to a beautiful sunny Sunday and look forward to a day spent with my family.  I have been told that it will be another 750 years before our Easter holiday is this early in the year.

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

ECOBAGS, A NEW SITE, & APRIL'S FEATURED CRAFTERS

I have been thinking a lot about the organic and ecological products that have become so popular.  I remember when the whole recycling movement began, and it seems recently it has picked up steam again.  I am all for being good stewards of the things God has given us.  I have been attacking my fabric stash with a vengeance, making yoyo's, and coin purses.  To step it up a notch, I plan on buying some organic cotton to make some of the bags in my shops.  Kaffee Fassett has some nice fabrics, and there are others available over the internet.  I read recently that cotton is one of the most heavily sprayed crops, so going organic suits me fine.  Never having been a fan of chemicals in gardening,  I use all natural methods of pest control in my little garden.

Speaking of "shops," this month I listed several items on a new site called www.icraft.ca/kimbuktu .  It is a brand new Canadian site, specifically for handmade crafts (no vintage or supplies allowed).  Since both Etsy and ICraft require that items listed be exclusive to their site, you will find different, although similar items of mine on both sites.  I am "kimbuktu" on both, so you won't have any trouble finding my shops.

Finally, here is a hint of the featured crafters coming up in April.  It is a husband/wife team who work together beautifully, wait until you see more of their art!
